1. Motilal Nehru
Motilal Nehru who served as president of Indian National Congress twice was born in Agra on 6th May, 1861. He was an Indian lawyer, an activist of the Indian Independence Movement and an important leader of the Indian National Congress who also served as the Congress President twice, 1919–1920 and 1928–1929. He was the founder patriarch of the Nehru-Gandhi family.He is one of the famous people from Agra.
2. Mirza Ghalib
The legendary Urdu and Persian Shayar Mizra Asadullah Baig Khan, popularly known as Mirza Ghalib was born in Kala Mahal Agra on December 27, 1797. He was a descendent from the family of Aibak Turks. Ghalib started composing poetry at the age of 11 and used name as Ghalib and Asad. Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar gave him the honour of Dabir-ul-Mulk, Najm-ud-Daula.
3. Shriram Sharma
A social reformer, a prominent philosopher, a visionary and founder of ‘All World Gayatri Pariwar’, Shriram Sharma was born in Agra on 20 September 1911. He started participating in Indian freedom movement at an age of just 12 years. He recognized the crisis of faith, people’s ignorance of the powers of the inner self, and the lack of righteous attitude and conduct.Thus founded his mission to help people restore faith and achieve positivity in life.
A popular Indian actress in 1950’s and early 60’s, Nawab Banoo aka Nimmi was born in Agra on 18 February 1933. Nimmi started her film career with Barsaat. She worked with top actors of the time like Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand. Sazaa (1951), Aan (1952), Bhai-Bhai (1956), Kundan (1955), Mere Mehboob (1963), Pooja Ke Phool (1964) and Akashdeep (1965) were some of her best performances.
5. Rajendra Yadav
Rajendra Yadav was Born in Agra on 28th August 1929 and was a noted Hindi writer. He graduated in 1949, and later completed his MA in Hindi at Agra University in 1951. He edited the literary magazine Hans, which was founded by Munshi Premchand. His novel Sara Akash, which was adapted into a movie of the same title, Sara Akash, by Basu Chatterjee was his famous work.
6. Ravi Tandon
Ravi Tandon was born in Agra and is a noted film director and producer.He is also a father of popular bollywood actress Raveena Tandon. He directed a number of hit movies of Bollywood, the most popular among these are Khel Khel Mein starring Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Singh, Majboor starring Amitabh Bachchan and Parveen Babi and Khud-Daar again with Amitabh and Parveen along with Sanjeev Kumar.
7. Dalip Tahil
Popular character actor from Bollywood and small screen, Dalip Tahil was born in Agra on 30th October 1952. He completed his education from Sherwood School in Nainital, where he first started doing theater. He started his Bollywood career with Ankur in 1974 and has worked in numerous films and TV series. Dalip was quite popular villain in Bollywood films.
