    Nice exposition Richa !
    Here’s my bit:

    (1) ‘Lucknow Junction’ part of Charbagh Railway Station under North Eastern Railway (NER) had a distinct identity because it was made of Metre Gauge (MG) lines earlier on as against “Lucknow” station under Northern Railway (NR) which was only with Broad Gauge (BG) lines. In fact, that is the reason the NER station even now is popularly called “छोटी लाईन वाला स्टेशन” to distinguish it from other i.e. Lucknow (Northern Railway) “बड़ी लाईन वाला स्टेशन”.

Now, about 15-20 years back, all lines of even Lucknow Junction (NER) station have also been converted to BG (बड़ी लाईन) from MG (छोटी लाइन) as part of Indian Railways’ drive known as “Project Gauge Conversion”.

It got this name because it was built by architectures of Rome.” WRONG. ‘Rûm’ was the name for Greece+Anatolia, and of course it was from the word ‘Roman’ (Byzantine Empire was never called Byzantine, this name was a Romantic invention to disinherit the Eastern extension of the Roman Empire). Architects of the gate were from Ottoman Empire.
