Lucknowites recently hosted an open art show “Colorothon”, organized at Ram Manohar Lohia Park in Gomti Nagar. India’s largest open art event. It was the largest open-air art gallery provided platform for people from all walks of life and all ages, to come together and draw from their imagination and fill blank canvases. It was not less than a carnival for the city dwellers, where children as well youngsters, were spotted participating with full enthusiasm.
People were highly engaged throughout the event as they were painting whatever they liked. There were few portrait painters like Vandana Sehgal, painted old Lucknow skyline. Famous inspirational personalities like Amitabh Bachan, Nita Ambani, Yogi Adityanath were depicted on the walls of Lucknow beautifully.
The event was inaugurated by PN Singh, vice chairman, Lucknow Development Authority, in the presence of Padma Bhushan, Ram V Sutar, sculptor and artist, and Guinness record holder artist, Wajid Khan.
“Yeh art ka samundar hai and I want everyone to enjoy and get to the core of it,” said Sutar.
Meanwhile people from Delhi another group of painters painted the walls of Shaheed Path in rainbow hues. They spent the whole day painting murals, portraits and nature scenes on the wall lining the highway. A few paintings also showcased the rich culture and heritage of the city.
Also few eye catching things were there to enhance the colorful environment. There was a beautiful cake weighed around 104 kgs baked by a renowned baker of Lucknow.
We would love to witness more of such events in Lucknow.
