After years of delay, Agra now has its own Passport Seva Kendra. It indeed is good news for Passport seekers, as it will save them from travelling to Ghaziabad for issuing Passport.
The Passport Seva Kendra has been opened in Agra Fort Post Office on 27th February, 2018 and was inaugurated by Ramshankar Katheria, Agra MP. The Union External Affairs Ministry gave a green signal to opening of Passport Seva Kendra in Agra, which was otherwise pending from last two years.
The Seva Kendra will not just cater citizens of Agra but also of Aligarh, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Hathras, Kasganj and Etah. Passport Seekers from these cities will now travel to Agra instead of Ghaziabad for issuing Passport.
The senior superintendent of Passport Office Agra, BS Rawat said that. There are two counters which will cater 50 people in a day and gradually the number will be increased.
The Seva Kendra will not just issue new Passports but will also help Passport holders renew their old Passports. However, people will have to wait for next 6 months for Tatkal Passport Seva facility.
The Passport Seva Kendra at Agra is part of the Ghaziabad Passport Office, which caters 13 districts of Western UP. The citizens of Agra, Aligarh, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Hathras, Kasganj and Etah have been travelling to Ghaziabad for issuing Passport since 1997, but not anymore.
Isn’t it a great news for Agraites ?
