After hearing the endless buzz about a place in Lucknow that has made eating momos a new experience altogether, it was high time to visit Nainital Momos. Now, there are two outlets of this momos junction in the city, and I happened to visit Nainital Momos Season 2 situated at Viram Khand, Gomti Nagar.

The place comes with a decent seating area with nattily done interiors. Looking into the menu we found no less than 54 varieties of momos, making it a momos extravaganza for sure. From vegetarian, non-vegetarian, tandoori, soupy, chocolate and what not, the varieties offered are enough to bewilder you.

Chef At Work

Out of myriad options available we ordered, a tandoori momos platter that comprised of Tandoori Veg, Tandoori Mushroom and Tandoori Paneer Momos. The next orders we placed were Soprano Veg and one Lemon – hot and spicy momos.

Waiting for the orders being served, I happened to notice an intriguing aspect of their interiors. The walls of Nainital Momos restaurant are decked up with ‘framed reviews’ by its customers. A gesture of gratitude for the kind words of their customers and a captivating way to bind them.

Tandoori Platter

The momos were served accompanied with hot and spicy momos sauce, mayonnaise and a mint chutney. Talking about the tandoori momos, they came with crispy outer layer and juicy filling. The Tandoori Veg momos tasted best, while the mushroom and paneer options were equally yummy.

What makes the dumplings special at Naintal Momos is that they prepare it using wheat flour (aata) instead of all-purpose flour (maida), making them a healthier version of momos served at other places. Even the vegetables used are blanched and mixed with an array of spices and herbs to bring twist in the taste.

The Soprano Veg is served in a bowl, and is regular steamed momos served immersed in piping hot stew. The stew is made of garlic base with a dash of peri-peri chilly flavor. You have to try this once to experience the delight of soupy momos.

The next dish was Lemon – hot and spicy momos and justified its name completely, with a tangy taste these momos were super spicy. For people whose taste buds can’t adjust with spicy chili flavours, this option is a big no.

Lemon – Hot & Spicy

Besides, the restaurant also serves a good variety noodles, rice, sizzlers and mocktails to choose from. Those with sweet tooth can also give the choco lava momos a shot, the innovative momo dessert brought to you by Nainital Momos.

You won’t be disappointed with the service as the staff is highly cooperative. By any chance if you happen to dislike a dish, you can call the staff and tell them the flaws. Not only they will welcome the feedback but replace the dish and serve you with a dish that serves your taste buds better.

Nainital Momos Interiors

If momos is something you are crazy about, you just can’t miss this place. And even if momos are not something that does not top your preferences, you ought to try them and it will be worth the try.
