Walkathon: When Lucknow Walked for a Noble Cause

A multitude of Lucknowites took to the streets on 19th November’2017 for a 1.5 km Walkathon to support a noble cause. Organized by ‘Save the Children’ in partnership with IIM Lucknow’s INDEX, the Walkathon was an attempt to garner support for SAVE THE CHILDREN’s efforts to bring lasting change in lives of children.

The Walkathon witnessed the presence of more than 300 students on 19th November, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) Week. Besides, parents and members of Lucknow Moms Group volunteered for the cause.

The Walkathon commenced from Sheros Hangout and everyone present marched in unison till Ambedkar Park for the 1.5 km long Walkathon.

The organization ‘Save the Children’ works to bring lasting change in the lives of children living in street situations and advocate of basic civil rights for them. They stride to fight against child exploitation and poverty and ensure bright future of the children.

Ahead of the Walkathon, IIM Lucknow campaigned to spread awareness for the cause of children’s well being. INDEX took to social media and offline ways to outreach schools and colleges in the city in order to ensure intensive awareness and maximum participation.

Students from colleges like Amity Law School, National PG, Isabella Thoburn, SRMU, IIM Lucknow and schools like City Montessori School, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Modern Academy, and Oxford Children Academy volunteered for this noble cause.

The children marched with slogan ‘Humari Pehchan, Hamara Adhikar, Humara Aaj, Humara Kal’, thus taking a pledge to work for well being of all the children in the world.

If each one contribute in their capacity for the welfare of children, it would certainly bring positive changes and support the good cause.
