It’s a proud moment for Lucknowites as Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport Lucknow has been rated as the World’s Best Airport under – ‘Best Airport by Size’ in the category of handling 2 to 5 million passengers per year. It handled about 3.97 million passengers in 2016–17.
The Airport Council International (ACI) has announced the results of Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards 2017 on 7th March, 2018. Many AAI airports including Lucknow Airport have bagged the honor under various categories.
Lucknow Airport is the 10th Busiest Airport in India. It is the largest airport in Central India and second largest in North India. However, it is not for the first time that Lucknow Airport has won an award for being World’s Best Airport under – ‘Best Airport by Size’ category. In 2015, the airport ranked second in the same category.
The other Indian Airports declared winners are Indore, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune. The AAI officials said that this is for the first time that so many AAI Airports have been declared best in the coveted list.
Indore Airport has received the ‘Best Airport by Region’ award while Ahmedabad Airport received the honor of ‘Most Improved Airport’ in Asia-Pacific.
The Kolkata and Pune Airport have bagged third position in the world under ‘Best Airport by Size’ for in the category of handling 5-15 million passengers per year. While Chennai holds the same award and position in the category of handling 15-25 million passengers per year.
The awards have been declared on the basis of results of a survey carried out by Airport Council International (ACI), a Global non-profit organization of Airport Services.
This survey is carried out across 315 Airports in Africa, Europe, Asia Pacific, North America, South America and Middle East. It certainly is a proud moment for Lucknow Aiport authorities for bagging this award!
