Now there is one more shocker to people who love to travel Lucknow- Agra- Delhi (specifically using Yamuna Expressway). The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority will now charge Rs. 500 (one way) for using the Lucknow-Agra Expressway from January 15 onwards. The longest route in India, 302 kilometre-long has two toll plazas, one at Lucknow and another in Agra.
Passengers driving from Lucknow to Delhi through expressway would be charged Rs. 915 as toll charge whereas Agra – Greater Noida would cost them Rs. 415. However, the final amount is yet to be decided for travelling from Lucknow to Agra.
An official told the press when inquired about exact amount,
“We are in the process of finalizing the amount that will be charged up to each exit point on the stretch. For instance, if one is going from Lucknow and exiting the expressway at Kannauj, he or she will inform the toll plaza at Lucknow and pay a reduced amount.”
The source has informed that the work is still on and various facilities will be provided by the end of the 1st quarter. Very soon we would be able to witness petrol pumps, toilets and restrooms, restaurants etc. on the expressway. Tourist accommodation would come up in April along with food joints.
Reportedly, the work is still on to give shape to the expressway. Facilities such as toilets are being built for public convenience. Eating joints and tourist accommodations shall come up in April, and petrol pumps by March 2018.
It’s probably disheartening news for frequent Delhi/Agra travelers who use this expressway. So guys Pack your bags and go on one mini trip this weekend before this big tax hit your pockets.
